I’ve enjoyed opening all the Home Sweet Home blocks that have been arriving for quilts for Siblings Together. They are masculine colours and prints so when Hannah asked for girly blocks to be made so that the Leeds MQG could make some quilts I jumped at the chance of a different colour block!
A rummage through the scraps bins and fairly quickly I made these:
If you want to make boy or girl blocks then please do, all the details are in the flickr group.
It was also time to make the March blocks for the Siblings Together bee, Julie chose the Merry Go Round block which I’d not come across before, but it was again quick and simple to make. Ok I did check the direction of each HST a couple of times!
I love rummaging through my scraps boxes, they are like boxes of memories. Have you made anything scrappy this week? I’m linking up my makes to Scraptastic Tuesday:
They’re lovely blocks and great for using up precious scraps!
I think scrappy blocks are my favorite. They tend to have a haphazard, organic feel to them. No commitment–just make to make. Yours is lovely!

Love your scrappy blocks Mary and it is all in such a great cause!
I like the way the pattern comes and goes with the low contrast fabrics.
LeeAnna at not afraid of color
What a darling Merry-Go-Round. Love the way some of the HSTs are placed in different directions. I think this will look fabulous when it’s finished.
I had never made Home Sweet Home blocks before today. They really are quite addictive, aren’t they. There are some lovely girly fabrics in yours. This quilt is going to be well loved.
Beautiful scrappy blocks! You have me wanting to rummage through my own bits and bobs to do some scrappy stitching, too. ;o)
I will make some of the blocks for boys if you tell me where, and by when, you want them. I am a keen patchworker/quilter, but I do not “do”Flicker or Facebook,… a bit of a dinosaur really, but otherwise competent. I am willing to help make other blocks or to quilt tops for ST too.
I have made quilts for them over the last two years. Best Wishes, Kate
