Leftovers

18 May

I’ve been slowly working away on the Hazel Hedgehog quilt.  The pattern is not paper pieced and to make it simpler to piece the pieces are rectangular and there ends up being too much waste for my liking!  Don’t get me wrong, I love this pattern just not the leftovers!

These are some of the ‘scraps’ from making the face:

Hedgehog face leftovers!

I trimmed them to 2″ x 2.75″ and you can see how well they could fit together. I’m even thinking with the end of the school year on the horizon that they could make pencil points for a teacher gift…

I’ve been working on sorting out the Home Sweet Home quilts for Siblings Together and last week I sorted the binding for them.  I’d been sent donations of binding and strips, so on Friday I pieced the strips together and here again there are offcuts that I couldn’t bear to throw away:

These are just 1.5″ square, I’ve no idea where they will end up but I sure they’ll find a home somewhere!

I hope that one month in the not so distant future I will have a finished project to show for Scraptastic Tuesday!

  1. I hope you do use them up somehow! For now I’m just glad you are saving them and pencil point pencil cases or tote bags would make lovely teacher gifts! Thanks for linking up to #scraptastictuesday

  2. In my family, we wouldn’t think of throwing leftover food away so throwing leftover fabric away would be a double no-no. So excited to see you are thinking about ways to use up your leftovers.

  3. It’s always a problem with what to do with fabric leftovers. I can’t throw them away, but then my scrap bags get even fuller! I like your idea of teacher gifts though.
