Sunday Stash #41

14 Jun

I set my goal for this months ALYoF to finish the Hazel Hedgehog quilt top for Bethan, I needed to make 2 more blocks and they are now done:

The next step is to sash and piece them together, while talking about this with Bethan we looked at backing fabric and came across some great priced Walkabout Squares by Beth Studley for just £3.30 per metre.  Bethan said she preferred the grey but to be on the safe side I ordered 4 metres of both colours ‘just in case’:

I’m glad I did because now they’ve arrived she does like the pink:

Whichever one we end up using I know that the other will make a great quilt back in the future!

In other news my courageous husband ran the Classic Quarter yesterday, 44 miles of coastal path from the southern most tip of England (the Lizard) to the western most point (Lands End), he’s exhausted (funnily enough), but raised money for YoungMinds which is the UK’s leading campaigning charity committed to improving the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people.  Thank you very much to those of you who sponsored him, there’s still time to donate if you would like.

I’m linking up with Molli for this weeks:

  1. Hi Mary,
I love this quilt. It’s so sweet. Two questions; What will the final measurements be? And is it paper pieced? Can’t wait to see it with the borders.

  2. Absolutely lovely quilt and you must be so pleased. Well worth all that work. Where did you get that backing for such a good price? I can only find it for that price for a FQ.

  3. Fabric Guild strikes again!

I couldn’t find the grey one in the actual shop (that was the one I wanted) AND I thought I took the last continuous 4 yard length – they must have had more hidden away! Still I’m happy with my pink for my backing 🙂

  4. Dropping over from Molli Sparkles link up. The hazels are lovely and great backing fabric. What a bargain.

  5. Cuteness overload!!! ;o) Loving those adorable hedgies and think you’ve scored a hit with your new backing fabric. Lucky Bethan – this quilt is fabulous!

  6. I really must get this pattern for Hazel, you, like many others are inspiring me to make some of these gorgeous blocks, I love your fabric choices! I was speed reading your blog, and at first thought your husband had ran to the quilt shop for you! Sorrry, well done to him though, that terrain couldn’t have been easy! I’m visiting over from Molli Sparkles, nice to meet you 🙂

  7. Wow – this is going to be gorgeous. I am really interested in getting into quilting, it is my next mission. This is so inspiring to see what you can achieve. Must have taken you ages to make all those hedgehog pieces…
