Shorts: a FAL finish

16 Aug

On my 3rd quarter finish along list were pyjama shorts for my boy.  A couple of weeks ago I realised that he didn’t have many pairs of everyday shorts and if summer turns up we might need more.  So I printed out the shorts pattern and cut out a size 5, I rummaged in my stash looking for fabric for him and got distracted by the flannel, it was then I remembered that I had said I would make him pyjama shorts!

So I made one pair:

They fitted him fine and he wore them that evening for his yoga session:

Here is an interesting observation on how much fabric fades through the washes!  I made the pyjama top for him 2 years ago (yes it is getting a bit small) and it was cut from the same piece of flannel as the shorts.

I then went on and made 2 more pairs:

I made these pairs in a size 6, he’s small for his age and there a little on the large side but therefore guaranteed to fit him for longer.

I’ve still not got around to making him any everyday shorts and to be honest today when the temperature was 13 degrees at 10 in the morning I’m not sure I’ll bother!

When the time comes I’ll be linking these up for the 3rd quarter FAL.

  2. Great shorts – the paper plane fabric you have used is very cute!
