WIP Wednesday

28 Oct

I’ve been having a little sort out and tidy in my sewing room and found that I still have a few of these hexies left so have been sewing them together to make 2 pieces big enough for a scissor cozy. This one is stitched together:

IMG_1264That hexie on the far left isn’t needed but was already stitched on to another I was using!

This is not quite done: IMG_1263

I have a huge amount of vintage sheet strips (leftover from cutting charms and FQ’s for the shop) so I decided to sew a few together to make another pillow cover for the body pillow on our bed (if you want a bag of scraps and strips I have plenty, £10 for a kilo (posted weight) plus postage just leave a comment):

UntitledI think there are 33 different prints and I’ve started quilting them: Untitled

I’ve been playing with the different stitches on my machine, there are more than 200 so I’m picking and choosing but discovering if you don’t select it properly it will just stitch the one it has just done – slightly annoying but I’m living with it and not unpicking.

In my tidying I found some patterns by Jen Kingwell that I don’t think I am ever going to use so I’m destashing them; brand new and in packet (just removed for photo), £8 each (free postage in UK) or all 3 for £22, again just leave a comment below.

Another WIP is the beginnings of a Christmas cake!  No sewing involved, just waiting for a few days while it soaks!

Right I’m off to hang some washing out as today it’s sunny unlike the torrential rain of yesterday (such a glamorous life I lead!)

  1. I found hexies too whilst tidying up my studio – isn’t it funny what gets unearthed? Love all your vintage sheets – they were the one thing I didn’t leave in NZ when we headed back but I haven’t done much with them recently.

  2. What a fun use for hexies! I’ve been stitching them up all year using my scraps and now I have almost 2,000 that have no plan, haha.
