An origami cushion?

12 Jun

No I didn’t make a cushion cover by folding fabric!  The origami theme comes from the fabric used!  Bethan had a birthday invitation with a weeks’ notice which led me to a slight panic about what to make.  Rather than plan something complicated I went for using some great fabric in a simple way:

The fabrics are Origami Oasis by Tamara Kate, I stitched 2 pieces together for the front of the cushion and quilted it at a 60 degree angle with Aurifil 2730 in 28 weight; simple but effective and fairly quick! IMG_8282

The binding was a lovely match, Freespirit royal blue – one of my favourites colours I think:IMG_8284

I used another print from the same line for the back:

  1. Gorgeous cushion. I wish it really had been an origami cushion because I have just come from my studio where I am trying to figure out how to make a cushion cover using crocheted hexagons and it truly seemed like origami!
