Sunday Stash #64

28 Aug

It’s been a couple of weeks since Festival of Quilts but this is my first chance to share my purchases:

I went with a shopping list and did fairly well at sticking to it.

I bought a couple of metres of a black/grey chambray from Fabrics Galore; it’s already been washed ready for to make another pair of Luna Pants hence it’s wrinkled state (yes I’ve still to blog about the pair I’ve already made):

I wanted more red for my stash, I struggle to find red’s that aren’t Christmas themed and I found the telephone (Vintage Scrapbook by Michele D’Amore for Benartex), red/white and ‘hello’ (no selvedges on these) prints in Doughty’s £1 per FQ bucket:

The other 2 red prints are Red Raindrops from the April Showers line by Bonnie and Camille and Daisy Flower from the Weeds line by Me and My Sisters, both half yard cuts from Abakhan.  I’ve already used the Daisy Flower in making a hat for Bethan, it was just bought for stash but she picked it out straight away.

I had this blue bias check (Doe – Carolyn Friedlander) on my list, I’d been desperately looking for this print to use to bind my Marcelle Medallion but was struggling to find it.  When I realised Simply Solids had it they had already packed the bolt for Festival of Quilts so I asked them to save me half a metre:

I’ve had a week on holiday and have now finished the quilt and will be able to show it soon with it’s gorgeous binding.

This fabric also came from Simply Solids; it arrived a couple of weeks ago but I’ve only just got around to sharing:

It’s an extra wide quilt back, Doe white bias check by Carolyn Friedlander.  I bought 2.5 metres of it, I have 2 quilts to back, this will be for the Peony quilt I think.

I bought another quilt back from New Threads:

They don’t have this on their website, but I guess if you want it you could give them a ring, it’s by Whistler Studios style #39513 for Windham Fabrics and is 108″ wide.  I think I’ll be using this to back a wedding gift quilt.

I have a FQ bundle of Novella by Valori Wells that has been sitting in my stash for a couple of years, earlier this year I bought yardage of one of the prints to use for backing and then at the festival I saw this gorgeous zig zag print (from the same line) that I thought would be great for binding it:

I probably should confess that at the moment I have misplaced the FQ bundle but otherwise I do have all the elements to make a quilt!

I mentioned the red fabrics I bought from Abakhan; I also bought this:

I pulled it off the shelf because I love that colour blue, only then did I discover that it was a Tula Pink print!  I bought half a metre although at just £5.99 p/m I probably should have bought more especially as I’ve already use a fair amount making a hat for me!

Hiding at the back of the first photo is 2 metres of woven fusible interfacing that I need for various projects it’s not that exciting but so essential.

There is one more purchase that I made that is due to be posted out to me from the folks at Sew Hot, I really hope it arrives this week because it’s an essential part of some back to school sewing!

I’m off to link up with Molli Sparkles, have you anything to share?

  1. These are very nice purchases. Good reds are hard to find and you have quite a few nice ones here.

  2. You should have bought the whole bolt of the Tula at that price! That’s one of my faves of hers. Also, funny enough, I was just using that blue, CF check fabric last night on a new block I’ve designed. It’s just so-so for me, but I do like it’s saturated royal quality!
