Inspiration doesn’t always strike

7 Apr

This name badge was one of the top priorities on my FAL list as it needed to be complete for the Thread House Retreat in January.  The person I had to make for was Grace of Beyond Measure; if you’ve not come across her shop before you really should check it out; she sells a beautifully curated selection of sew (and knitting) related items.

I must admit I was lacking inspiration when trying to come up with an idea for the badge so decided to stitch a ‘piece of ruled paper’ and then free motion her details on to it.IMG_3733I added some tiny ric rac to the edges to add a little ‘bling’.

This is the lovely name badge I received from Catherine:

IMG_3758Quilted with a variegated thread and beautifully embroidered, it now hangs on the notice board in my sewing space.

  1. Hi Mary,
It seems ages since the Retreat in January, doesn’t it? I am so pleased you liked the name badge enough to keep it. I must say I found it difficult to arrive at a design for a stranger too. I love bright colours and the button was from my crazy quilting supplies. There were some fab baskets too. I treasure mine.

  2. I really like the name badge you created. How clever to stitch lines resembling notebook paper. I don’t think I would ever thought of that. 🙂
