At long last

A long time ago I had a plan for a quilt and I executed it but it took a long time to get it finished.

This was the Touchdraw version:

Not that long later in April 2016 this was the reality (including the error in the bottom right which a kind reader spotted and I quickly fixed).

And then I folded it up and put it in a cupboard. This was to be the third in my collection of Welsh blanket patterns. First was Caernarfon:

Second was St Davids Cross

I love the Peony design and loved the challenge of the curves; and wanted to know could I replicate that in a quilt?

This year I decided that I really needed to get this quilt finished even if the pattern wasn’t. It’s approx 88″ square and I had neither the time or energy to quilt this myself so I sent it off to Trudi I didn’t really know how I wanted this quilted but I knew I wanted curves in there somewhere. Trudi had a couple of ideas and we settled on a houndstooth pantograph

I used scraps from the quilt top to make the binding; yes the fabrics had been kept in a safe place for 3.5 years! I’ve slowly hand stitched it on over the last couple of weeks.

It’s too windy to be able to do an outside photo shoot so this is as good as it gets for now:

This was placed on our bed not just for the photoshoot, the weather is noticeably cooler now and it’s a welcome addition.
