More clothes making: this time for my eldest. She chose a Charley Harper print, we can’t agree if they are penguins or guillemots but whatever they are it’s a great print.
It’s been a while since I’ve sewn a dress for her so we’ve had to look for new patterns. We decided upon the Lady Skater dress by Kitschy Coo even though it’s only currently available as a print and stick version (I heard a rumour that copy shop/A0 version is being prepped).
I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to make the pattern (in size 2) fit on the 3 yards of fabric (44″ wide) I had so we were prepared for possibly making it short sleeved. But it was fine with enough left for a small child size t-shirt I think.
I made a test bodice just to check it was going to fit, I hate the thought that it might not and it can’t be saved!
It’s a great pattern, I sewed it on my ‘normal’ machine and the overlocker following the pattern pretty much to the letter. Bethan has worn it a lot already and has received a number of compliments on it which is always nice.
This was on my FAL list for quarter 1 so I’ll be linking up and checking out what others have achieved.
It’s gorgeous! I’m voting penguin.
Oh I bet she has received compliments! The dress looks so comfy, so stylish! I think you chose the perfect pattern and your daughter chose a great fabric. Great finish! 🙂
She is so cool. I think it’s penguins because of how the eggs are between the feet.
Congrats on a beautiful finish! I love the fabric! On behalf of the 2018 FAL hosts, thank you for finishing along with us.
