Hurrah! A finished quilt top

9 Apr

Hope you all had a great Easter weekend, we had a good time with family and friends, the children had one late night which was one late night too many!

School is on a two week break, last week the children were pretty well behaved and I managed to get some sewing done during the day and the evenings were spent piecing together the blocks to make the Oh My Stars quilt top, and on Thursday evening it was finished:

I am so delighted!  On Friday I cut strips of vintage sheets and pieced together the back including a label.  So all I need to do now is baste, quilt and bind it!  In the past I have basted quilts using quilting pins and then scratched and pricked myself whilst quilting, I’d prefer not to do that so went to buy some basting safety pins on Saturday but the shop had none in stock so I’ve ordered some on line and hopefully they will be here this week.  I have a few thoughts on quilting but would love to hear any suggestions/ideas.

I love the circular quilting on this quilt by Naomi:

  1. I love this pattern and yours turned out beautiful! My vintage sheets aren’t nearly as colorful as yours. I will have to look for some for when I make this quilt—-someday. Well done!

  2. Looking good so far! Hope your pins arrive – I have to admit, I pinned once, cursed it left and right, and have spray basted since lol
