Welcome to my entry for Bloggers Quilt Festival in the ROYGBIV category.
A few weeks ago I saw Adrianne put a call out for pattern testers for a new quilt pattern. I volunteered despite not knowing what the pattern looked like or what fabric was required. Sometimes it’s good to take a leap into the unknown!
So with a quick read of the pattern I discovered there was a call for charms and solids. I had a look at what charms I already had and pulled out a pack from the Rainbow charm swap that Cindy organised last year. I added in some other 5″ squares from stash to ensure I had enough.
I didn’t want to go shopping for solids due to time restraints and also the fact that I felt I could effectively shop my stash. I’d already picked Kona Snow for one as I had plenty of yardage of that, my best fit was greys to contrast with the snow and rainbow. I didn’t have enough of any one grey so used a mixture.
I had a helper with the layout, I drew up a couple of different ideas in Touchdraw; a random one:
and a not so random one:
Bethan chose the rainbow ordered version and helped me to lay out the charms. I’m really pleased with the end result:
I didn’t have enough of anything for the backing so opted for piecing it with a rainbow selection from stash (if you want to know what any in particular are please leave a comment below):
I quilted approx 1/4″ on both sides of every seam line on my Horizon using Aurifil 2021:
Binding choice was a no brainer, it had to be the rainbow striped by Michael Miller that I picked up at Festival of Quilts in August:
It was a pretty quick quilt to make using the instructions Adrianne gives; to read more about her quilt and to see the other pattern testers versions check out her blog. You’ll also find a link to purchase the pattern to make your own High Tea quilt:

I love this Mary! Looks really fab.
This is fabulous. I’m such a sucker for a great rainbow quilt and this is just one of those. I love the you alternated the greys, and the binding is a rainbow and the back is perfect and it’s just so wonderful. Good luck with the festival!
So pretty- you’re totally right about the binding.
Beautifully done. I really like how you used the mixed grays in the sashing.
I saw this on Adrienes blog and loved it – another one for my ‘one day’ list!

Really gorgeous!! The greys were an awesome choice, totally sets off the rainbow perfectly 🙂
It works so well! Fabulous finish. And I love seeing my charm there 😉 Mine was the pink one that came at the top of the pile from the swap. Kind of wish I hadn’t used mine now, as I would make this quilt!
