Sunday Stash #32

15 Mar

It’s not been the most exciting week for stashing, in fact initially I thought that I had nothing to share and then I remembered this:

Untitled

Oh yes I know it’s so exciting, a metre of Vilene H640, also known as fusible fleece. I’ve struggled to find this in the past but in the last year or so it seems to have become more available/I’ve looked in the right places. Anyway I needed it for pattern testing a bag but I finished the bag with an alternative because I’m impatient, but now I have it on hand for next time!

Who knows what a quick retweet on twitter will bring? This week it brought me this:

Untitled

It’s from the lovely people at Pavilion Craft.  I have one of Jane Brockets books already, the Gentle Art of Quilt-Making.  It has some great quilts in it with brilliant photography and interesting narrative although I’ve never made anything from it.

I’ve only had a quick flick through this new book but it looks like it has those same qualities and some fascinating ideas such as using vintage hand embroidered tablecloths, tray mats and bags chopped up and stitched into quilt blocks!  I think it will be one of those books that is great to browse when time and energy don’t allow for actual sewing!

In other news I have a quilt finish to share soon (we just need to get it photographed) and we now have surpassed our target of 150 quilt blocks for Siblings Together and will be able to make at least 9 quilts for the summer camps this year!  Thank you to everyone who has supported this effort.

Linking up with Molli who thinks it may be the end of the world:

  1. Beware, that’s not what the US calls fusible fleece! In US land, H630 is around the right thickness, just so you don’t end up with super bulky seams (ask me how I know, took Sara Lawson and I ages to figure it out!)
