This month my scrappy projects have been mini log cabins and bee blocks.
Julie’s request for her month in the Siblings Together bee was this:
I have no idea if the block has a name, it’s 20.5″ unfinished. Julie asked for gender neutral fabrics and mentioned that if we fancied making a 2nd block she’d be happy to receive it in any colours. With blocks as big as these one from each member is enough to make a quilt, so more blocks mean more quilts. So I raided my scrap bins for more feminine colours and made this:
This week with the children back at school I’ve started to tackle the scrappy log cabins again; this is a 9″ block made from 4 blocks that are 4.75″:
I now have 21 blocks made in this way:
I have 77 additional 9″ log cabins blocks and I plan to make 14 more so that I can make 2 quilts of 56 blocks each. I hesitate to say that my scraps bins are a little less full but it might be true!

Wow! I love your scrap projects. Your log cabins look fantastic!
Love your scrappy log cabin blocks! Great colors with a very fun vibe.:)
Very nice scrappy log cabin blocks. They sure are tiny. Making 2 quilts at once is ambitious but probably a time saver.
You’ve been busy Mary! Love the quilt in the making!
I think the log cabin quilts will be gloriously beautiful in their scrappiness.
I love the scrappy log cabins. Very pretty!
Any rhyme or reason to constructing your log cabin blocks? My goodness each block is small! Looks terrific!
