It’s November and therefore my turn in the Siblings Together bee and I’m asking for this block:
I don’t actually know what it’s called, if you know then please enlighten me!
Please use red fabrics for the X, I don’t mind a bit of low volume mixed in like in my version but please no other colours. The background fabric can be be any low volume fabric, feel free to use a different fabric for each HST, the scrappier the better.
I’ve drawn up a foundation paper pieced template as I think it’s simpler that making it the way I did the one above.
Pieces 1-4 and 6-7 can be any width you like – i.e. the lines are there as a guide, if you have thinner strips and want to add in more pieces please do, equally if you have wider strips to use up, then have less strips.
If you truly hate foundation paper piecing then please let me know and I can figure out the measurements.
You need to print the template 4 times to make one block, please double check when you print that you select 100% and measure the inch square on your print out:
The unfinished template should be 6.5″ square and 4 sections stitched together make a 12.5″ unfinished block.
If you can please make 2 x 12.5″ blocks I will be delighted, if you want to make more that would be awesome! You can leave the paper on, I have small helpers who quite enjoy removing them – please just remember to use smaller stitches than you normally would.
The finished quilt will look vaguely like this:
I can’t wait to see what the bee members come up with, if you are not a member of the bee but would like to contribute a block or even a part block then please leave a comment below when you are ready to post.
Thank you and happy stitching.
Hi,
I would like to send a block, please! Although I didn’t read the instructions properly and the background is just white, sorry… If that’s ok?
