Last weekend my eldest daughter turned 10. She had a few requests for birthday gifts; in addition to those I decided to make her a pouch for her inhaler and spacer instead of using the plastic wallet that school put it in for her!
I used Anna’s open-wide zip pouch tutorial as a basis and changed the sizes to fit the items:
Yes, ok it looks fairly wonky here, but they fit just perfectly inside.
The first aid cross was made from scraps, stitched together and then the edges pressed under to tidy it up before sewing it on. The main body of the pouch was from a pair of very worn out jeans that are sat under my sewing table waiting to be used. The zip end fabric was also from the scraps bin, although I wasn’t sure I could find something big enough at first, I mean 2″ x 3″ isn’t exactly tiny or is it?
My daughter was rather pleased with it and now I just need to find a use for the rest of the jeans and the boxes full of scraps!
Linking up with Nicky and Leanne (even though it is actually Thursday):
and with Le Challenge, which has a theme this month of ‘x’:
Haha #scraptastituesday is an all week thing – something to do with the space/time continuum I’m sure! What a great way to recycle fabric and so much prettier. Perhaps some more pouches would be awesome! ? Thanks for linking up to #scraptastictuesday
Super gift, Mary! Of course it was a hit!
I think that little pouch is perfect! And I love the use of denim. Awesome job!
Brilliant make and I love the denim! Thanks for linking to le challenge 🙂
a great idea, and one I should copy for my own inhaler
Much better than a plastic thing, I bet she loves it.
So cute and a wonderful red cross for an inhaler.
This is such a lovely pouch and a great reminder that scraps can be used for these small and quick makes too.
What a great idea. One that I might just copy for Marged’s inhaler!
