This weekend it’s the Spring Quilt Festival in Exeter and yesterday I went along to it with Sandra (@sewofcourse) who had come over from Ireland for it.
I’d not met Sandra before but we’ve got to know each other via email over the last few months; she has been proof reading my patterns and been an enormous help. So I made her a little thank you gift:
It’s a large open wide zip pouch (tutorial by Noodlehead) and I made a paper pieced block which is a mini version of part of my Caernarfon quilt pattern. I used the same fabrics as the original quilt and love how it turned out. I filled the pouch with some goodies; Some soap made locally by my lovely friend Sharon, fabrics from both the quilts that Sandra has helped me with, some tape measure ribbon and a Caernarfon wooden screen printed decoration.
I have another quilt pattern planned so will be sending Sandra another pattern soon…
We browsed the quilts on display, there were some truly amazing pieces, a whole series by Gretchen Danckwardt called My Patchwork Year, a quilt for each month made of 1.5″ hexagons. I didn’t take any photo’s but you can see one of the quilts here. After looking at quilts I browsed the stalls and bought just one piece of fabric! It’s Elementary equations in aqua by Sweetwater for Moda. I had some scraps of this line that I used to make a gift for a male teacher last summer. I really like it and so when I spotted it at £6 p/m I thought I should add a metre of it to my stash.
I was the host of last weeks Sunday Stash and I have a winner of the giveaway:
Congratulations Kathi; I’ve emailed you for your postal address so I can get your winnings off to you.
Last but not least it’s time to link up with Crystal and/or Alyce (yep minor error on Molli’s part!)
I love the Elementary fabric and know a few people who would love something made of that.
The pouch and goodies were so sweet! I bet she was thrilled! And I love the equations fabric!
This is gorgeous fabric, i would certainly have bought some too as it combines my favourite colour and my love of text fabrics. x
You put so much love (paper pieced block) in a pouch. I am sure Sandra will be thrilled to bits. And then you filled it with goodies? How do I get on your friends list 😀
That elementary fabric is gorgeous indeed.
How did I miss this blog post until now?! Thanks again for my lovely pouch (and the goodies!) I am chuffed indeed!
I did take some photographs at the show, I’m just late blogging them… Love the fabric you found!
