Featured item: Laptop case

16 Aug

Last month I showed you some new fabric I’d bought from here and suggested that I might make a laptop case for Tobit.  Well I’ve done it, I think this must be a record for me, I normally buy fabric because I like it and stash it for a while (usually months but often years!).  I had bought it with the laptop in mind so I guess it’s not so surprising.  Tobit is on holiday from work and being so hands on with the children I’ve had time to sew – yippee and it’s only day 1!

I had ideas in my head for the case and so sort of knew how to get the result I wanted, if you fancy making one there are some really great free tutorials out there.  This one by Amy Hodge here is great and tells you how to work out measurements for your size laptop, Sew, Mama, Sew! also had a great one which you can download.

I lined the case with  Amy Butler fabrics, clay coriander and orange eyelashes which are from the Belle range.  These I bought as part of the complete range of fat quarters I guess 3 or more years ago, it’s just been waiting for the right project.

I realised once I had finished sewing that I’d forgotten to sew a label in, I’d even got one out ready!  I think I need to stick a note on the sewing machine as a reminder.

I think Tobit likes it, he might even be keen to get back to work to show it off!
