OK so if you were reading last week you will remember I wrote about the big giveaway that Ali was going to be hosting at Very Berry Handmade. Have you been over to look yet? Did you enter or did you decide you didn’t want the chance of free fabric? Click on the Very Berry Handmade banner to go straight there, maybe then come back and read my resolutions (or go and write your own).
Here is a peep of some of the prizes up for grabs!
Have I resolved to sew in 2012?
I think so, I have a list which at the moment on paper is not too long, in my head it is longer!
So what am I going to do?
Write some tutorials to share with you (I’m doing well on that one as I’ve written 2 already this year!)
Cut into my stash, I think I have a serious amount of fabric, then I see photo’s of other peoples stashes and realise I don’t in comparison. But this is not about comparison it is about all the fabric I have and I think it’s alot. I have a pile of Amy Butler FQ’s Belle range just sat looking lovely, I think it might be 5 years old or more!
I think I should spend less time at the computer, blogging, reading other blogs, browsing flickr, pinterest and facebook and get on and sew. Actually this is a big one for me, I can’t quite believe I’ve admitted to it, but there you have it. I’ll let you know my progress.
I’ve been overwhelmed by all the quilt alongs that have just started up and couldn’t decide on one I really wanted to join until I saw this:
And I decided I had to make one, so yesterday before going public and telling everyone this is what I’d be doing I had a little practice:
I’m pleased with my first attempt, only another 110 (I think) stars to go! It’s not to late to join in the Oh My Stars! A Quilt Along, it can be as simple or as complex as you want to make it!
Which brings me on to trying new things and being more confident in my abilities. In fact I have a couple of things up my sleeve right now but they will have to wait!
Oh and I were to win I think I’d go for the voucher for Fancy Moon they always have delicious fabrics in and I’d have no problem spending it.
Oh My Stars indeed! I LOVE it! If I were not part way through one and started cutting for another I would so join you. Perhaps I’ll have to pin it for a later date 🙂
Love the Star design Mary and also your comment about less time at the computer. I am so guilty of spending tooooo much time at the computer and looking at blogs etc, it becomes almost an addiction doesn’t it? I think I might start limiting myself to say 15 minute slots!! Hmmm will have to think of something, because as you say it takes away your time for actual sewing.
Just as an aside, could you recommend any patchwork/quilting books that might be of use to me as a beginner in this field? Any suggestions would be helpful
Thanks
Jx
I love the idea of the vintage fabric, it will look perfect when finished. Kx
