I’m not sure that I’ve mentioned that I joined in the Starburst QAL over at Happy Quilting.
The quilt consists of 4 of these starbursts, as you can see they are pretty big!
I finished the quilt top and this week managed to find something to back it with.
This afternoon I basted it, it’s approx 94″ square:
We don’t have floor space large enough to lay it all out for basting, yesterday I did a bit of research and came across this useful blog post on basting a large quilt – thanks Julie, it worked (I think)
Now I need to work out what pattern to quilt it with and how on earth I’m going to do it. Any suggestions welcome, I’m currently thinking about circles, which is what I did on this quilt last year, but this time I’m thinking of more than just one circle. I’m no expert at free motion quilting actually I’ve never FMQ’d a quilt and this quilt is not the one to start on! What do you think?
Pretty pretty! I think I’d either go concentric circles or straight diagonal lines. No matter what you do, this will be a beaut!
A bit late now, but you could have quilted it in cirgles or spirals and then joined it like this

I literally just finished my Swoon quilt which was approximately 91 inches square. I would ask what kind of machine you are quilting it on? I did mine on my Bernina and it was a beast. If I ever make a quilt that large again I will either quilt as you go or send it to a longarmer. That said, I do love concentric circles.
Circles sound good, but that is a whopper – good luck x
Cool! How about some overlapping concentric circles like this (near the bottom):

That’s one beautiful beast! I’d be going with straight lines personally! Jxo
It looks amazing Mary!! Absolutely fantastic!! Can’t wait to see what you decide on the quilting. Love your circle quilt!! You could also check to see if there is anywhere around where you live that rents time on Long-arms. That is super fun!!
I love it! I’ve been thinking about how I’m going to quilt mine and I’m leaning towards going with some kind of grid in the background and maybe some echos around each star.
