One of my numerous nieces turned a couple of weeks ago. It’s hard to remember what one year olds might be interested in by way of toys and I made a guess that she probably has more than enough toys so I thought I’d stitch her something.
I was rather taken by Elizabeth Hartman’s hedgehog pattern a couple of months ago when GnomeAngel organised a sew along, I bought the pattern but knew I would have to wait to sew one up due to other priorities. As the children have been on holiday this week I asked Bethan to choose some fabrics and I think she did a great job:
Bearing in mind this gift was for a small child I didn’t want to go for a plain background but something where the dirty handprints/face wipes might stand a chance of being hidden! So out came the Alphabetti by Lu Summers, a great low volume print.
As with other cushion covers I’ve made recently I opted for putting a zip in the middle of the back:
This is a great pattern, it requires a bit of concentration but I can see myself or Bethan making more of these!
Love this so much! I could see me making a cushion like this, not sure I would manage a whole quilt!
I LOVE Hazel!! Must get myself that pattern! Jxo
This is soooo beautiful. You did a wonderful job!
I can see that I’m going to have to give in and get that pattern…
Okay – this little hedgehog is too cute. I can’t stand it!!
