Sunday Stash #59

15 May

I had a lovely delivery of fabric this week; it came from Mariner’s Compass Quilt Shop, I won a gift certificate in the 1st quarter of the FAL and it was lovely to go shopping for fun rather than for fabric with a specific purpose in mind.

I had a browse of their online store and immediately decided to add the Fancy Forest pattern to my shopping basket:
UntitledLeah had requested a fox quilt and I decided that I could use the fox block from this pattern and make good use of the other animals too.   I’ve already made one fox. The rest of the gift I used on a FQ bundle of Mini Moderns by Lori Holt: IMG_8298

These were definitely picked for no particular reason other than I love the look of them:

IMG_8295Oh yes and the fact that I find it hard to get my hands on red fabrics that aren’t solid or Christmas themed.

IMG_8299I also bought a yard of the panel, these are going to be great for fussy cutting: IMG_8301

Even the selvedge on this will be used:

Amanda who runs the shop was great at sorting this order for me  and it arrived in less than a week and without a customs charge (phew!) – thanks Amanda for sponsoring the FAL.

In addition to these I popped into the Exeter Sewing Machine Shop yesterday to get some Aurifil 2600 50 weight for piecing more foxes. I’m normally a fan of Gutxrmann for piecing but I discovered that Aurifil was better value for money as well as being a closer colour match to Kona Silver. IMG_8291

Have you stashed anything this week?  I’m linking up with:

  1. Such bright and fresh colors! I can’t wait to see what you make with the Fancy Forest pattern. Elizabeth’s animals are just so darn cute and will be adorable if you use these fabrics. Or is it just coincidence that they arrived together and you’re planning on sewing up the beasties in another fabric line?
