I was looking for some fabric a week or so ago and while rooting through the cupboard a bag of paper pieced shirts fell out. Rather than put them back in I decided to get them out and make a plan for a gift for Tobit’s birthday.
I pulled out 4 that I thought he would like and sashed them with some Kona Torch:
I quilted with Aurifil 1158 40 weight, it’s a steely grey and contrasts well with the bright orange.
I made 2 of these shirts the other two were from the All Shirts swap that May Chappell organised. This shirt was made by Cynthia Lees from North Carolina:
and this one was made by Shannon Poe from Oregon:
I put a zip in the back and covered it with a flap, the backing fabric is left over from backing Siblings Together quilt last year:
It’s bound with Kona medium grey; grey is Tobit’s favourite colour and I felt it pulled all the greys in each block together:
And I can’t finish this without a close-up of my favourite shirt:
Amazingly this is a tick off my 2nd quarter FAL list, I’ve not used all the shirts from the swap but this is progress!
Congratulations on the finish!
This turned out great – love the use of the Kona Torch – perfect. I’m visiting on behalf of the FAL hosting team – thanks so much for joining us!
What a cute pillow, that skull shirt is great! Love the bright orange sashing as well.
