I have a great pile of finished items that I have yet to share. Here’s one that was gifted this last week.
It’s a cushion cover for Bethan’s wonderful teacher:
I made it using the Frances Firefly block from Elizabeth Hartman’s Fancy Forest pattern. It was fairly simple to put together, I’m quite happy to make this as a one off, I’m not sure I’d want to make a batch of them for a quilt!
Bethan picked out the fabrics, Mrs C likes blue and she felt the pink worked well with it. Bethan also chose the backing fabrics, the Denyse Schmidt dot is one of her favourite prints:
I had the inspired idea to include a ‘secret’ message:
A great use for the alphabet stitch function on my machine.
This was on my FAL list for the 3rd quarter so I’m delighted to have something to tick off already.
The pillow is lovely. I specially like the “hidden” message. But I’d really like to know what kind of sewing machine you have that makes such pretty and legible lettering. I love everything about my sewing machine EXCEPT that its monogramming function is really primitive and close to illegible when you write words. When I do get a another machine, this function is going to be really important to me–whereas when I was deciding to buy the machine I now have, it never entered my mind to consider the lettering function, sadly!
Regards, Katie
Beautiful and creative finishes!!
That’s beautiful! Great way of making a block you want too!
Beautiful! Did Mrs C. cry?!
