I have an enormous amount of stash to show but I’m going to drip feed it over the coming weeks so you don’t suffer to many pangs of envy!
First up is a random prize from Bloggers Quilt Festival (by random I mean that neither of my quilts one a prize but thanks to sponsors there were other prizes available), thanks to Aurifil for a packet of Quilters Essentials threads by Edyta Sitar:
These aren’t really thread colours that I would normally buy but I’m sure I will find a use for them before too long!
I did buy some fabric this week; Sew Scrumptious had reduced all their Christmas fabrics to £2 per FQ so I consulted the children about which ones they liked and purchased accordingly:
On the left is 1 metre of Mid Century Christmas (turquoise) by Michael Miller and on the right is 1/2 metre of Many Mini Gnomes (blue) also by Michael Miller, I have plans for them and hope to show a finished item (or three) before too long!
It was my birthday last week which was the reason for the bumper stashing of fabrics, I was on a fabric fast for the first six months of the year which meant I just looked longingly at new lines but didn’t buy them. I did add them to my birthday list in the hope that the fabrics would still be available. In the purchasing of fabrics Tobit asked what else could be added to fill up the FRE and make the most of the not small postage cost from the USA (ok maybe I told him to do this!). One of the fillers was this:
1.5 yards of Le Creme Swiss & Dots by Riley Blake, I need it for a quilt that has been on my ‘to make’ list for a year! This is the last part of the background puzzle, now I need to focus on the other bits which I hope I can do from stash.
Another filler was this bundle of 10 FQ’s of Sketch (Timeless Treasures); I used a lot of this last year in paper piecing projects and felt it would be a great basic/blender to add to stash:
l-r: Steel, Bark, t-b: Peony, Ruby, Nectar, Daffodil/Yellow, Grass, Water/sapphire, Iris and Delft. These came from Pink Castle Fabrics but a lot of them are now out of stock. Don’t worry though Timeless Treasures have launched Hatch Basics in 20 colours which is similar but printed on the bias rather than the grain and I also read that there will be a range of metallics too!
OK that’s enough for today, more next week or pop back tomorrow for the Sew Mama Sew giveaway day…
Linking up with:
lovely goodies. You were so good on your fabric fast and inspired me to do the same. (Okay, well, you and necessity and my husband have inspired me.) I have made one or two exceptions, but I hope to make it as long as I can. 2015 is the year of sewing my stash!
Looks like a good selection there! That top thread I have, and it blends amazingly well into all sorts of things. The one on the left I just used a ton of in my Wild Kingdon quilt, but that was rather a niche area of animal print cuddle fleece 😉
Great stashing! If you can’t think of a use for those threads I’m pretty sure I can 😉
