Sunday Stash #66

9 Oct

Welcome to another edition of Sunday Stash; first I have thread to show you.  It’s not normally the most exciting thing but the purchase and delivery of this means that I am a step closer to getting the Groove quilt finished!  I searched high and low to find a shop that had stock of the five threads I required.  Barnyarns had them all or so I thought when I placed an order but 3 days later got a message to say that 2 were out of stock and they would send them when they arrive.  To be honest I’m slightly annoyed because once I’d placed the order I planned to get quilting, but now I have to wait…

Anyway here are Aurifil 50wt in 2581, 2715 and 1104, selected to match Kona Purple, Niagara and Torch.  I’m waiting for the threads that match with Mediterranean and Canary (the 2715 is a better match than it looks in the photo).  I found the info for colour matching Kona to Aurifil with Alyssa at Pile of Fabric, check it out if you need help.

My son had a birthday this week and we got home from work and school to find a parcel waiting and it was for me not him!  It contained this totally delicious bundle of fabric:

The very lovely Jo is off to other side of the ocean for a while (in fact I think she’s already gone) so she’s had a clear out of fabric and offered up some bundles of fabric to be made in to quilts for Siblings Together.  Jo has done some sewing in the past for Dashwood Studios and this is approx 1200g of fabric ‘scraps’ from their collections.img_0014

There are some really beautiful pieces in here.

I’m really looking forward to creating with them, I don’t have a plan yet so any suggestions gratefully received; I’m thinking something scrappy (obviously!) but more than that…

If you have any fabric you want to clear out and want to support a good cause then you can post a photo of it on IG and tag @siblingstogetherquiltgroup and #siblingstogetherquiltgroupdestash and I’m sure that someone will be delighted to take it off your hands and turn it in to a quilt for the Siblings Together charity.

The other piece of fabric was a gift from Jo for me to use to make something for one of the children.  It’s by Deena Rutter for Riley Blake from her Offshore line.  There’s about a long 1/2 metre of fabric so I’m thinking a pair of shorts for a smaller child is possible.img_0018

I’m off to link up and see what others have been stashing.

  1. Argh, these are the worst emails, right? I hate it when that happens! I would probably be too imaptient to wait and just start quilting with the second best thread I have at hand, so kudos for you patiently waiting!
And you sourced some wonderful fabrics, I especially love the thrid from the bottom!
