Catalina Dress

28 Sep

I had a few items of clothing on my list for this FAL, most of which I wanted to finish before our holiday.

I had planned to make a Catalina Dress for B with cotton voile from Seasalt purchased in the sale so a great bargain.

I started with the high bust measurement, picked the size from the pattern and then did a small bust adjustment.  I drafted a bodice from a vintage sheet and when B tried it on I knew I needed to shorten the bodice and took 2″ off it.

The pattern was simple to follow and it was not a complex item to make.  My only slight frustration is the elastic casing which is a bit small at the back where the seams aline.

B was happy with it and wore it numerous times on holiday; it was really hot so we wore the lightest clothes possible.  I don’t think it’s clear in the photo but it has pockets which is always a winner in any piece of clothing.

We didn’t organise a photo shoot so here you can see it being worn while we are waiting for the ferry to take us back down Lake Como for a last visit to the Grom shop (the best ice-cream in gluten free cones, seriously if you ever come across one of their stores do visit) before the train and flight back to the UK.

A few more posts to write and a least one item to finish before the link up opens.
